“In my profession, contamination between design and architecture is continuous. Both result from the interaction between object and human being, with a view to upgrading contemporary living conditions. The added value that design gives to architecture derives from attention to detail and the idea of timeless and always fashionable elegance”.
Marco Acerbis has been selected to appear in ICON ARCHITECTS, volume four in the Gold Series of Interni, which was inaugurated in 2014 with the publication to celebrate the first 60 years of the journal, and which includes a collection of the best Design and Made in Italy projects from all over the world.
One of the projects selected as visual expression of the design concept developed by Marco Acerbis is Giano, designed and presented on the occasion of the latest edition of the Salone del Mobile exhibition: this table has a dual soul; lightweight in appearance and with a robust structure, able to surprise with a changing geometry depending on the viewer’s perspective, thanks to a masterful interplay of transparencies and to an architecture which highlights the essential line of design and the multifaceted component of matter.
The 2018 of our Gold Series includes a selection of 100 architects from Italy and abroad who have produced prestigious projects for buildings and interiors, as well as signed some of the most outstanding products in Italian design.
The book is a collection of direct testimonies of all these great names of design and architecture worldwide, showing how, as the scale of the project changes so does their approach, during a historical period when the culture of design seems to have returned to its original perspective, as a result of the intention of several professionals to work on the spaces of daily life as a whole “from the tablespoon to the city” (Ernesto R. Rogers).
Apart from Marco Acerbis, the book ICON ARCHITECTS includes many other designers who have produced some of the most iconic products for the brand, as well as being an important part of the past and present at Acerbis: Mario Bellini, Gabriele e Oscar Buratti, Michele De Lucchi, Rodolfo Dordoni and Norman Foster.
