Gigiona translates into form and colour the creative spirit of Olimpia Zagnoli, an illustrator and multidisciplinary artist known for her distinctive style that combines pop art and graphic design.

Similarly to the Due Più armchair by Nanda Vigo, Gigiona brings an ironic and decorative touch to the Acerbis collection, continuing the exploration of materials and processes that defines the brand’s innovative vision. Composed of six Murano glass frames, the artwork originates from the observation and decomposition of a module, as the artist explains: “The module, in this case, is the image of a body divided into a grid that breaks apart and recomposes at will, like a figurative or abstract puzzle, depending on one’s preference. The research stems from a series of sketches on paper and oil paintings that explore this dimension of a malleable and changeable work.”

The idea of a project in constant evolution is also reflected in the choice of material, which plays a central role in Gigiona. “Glass is a material that bears witness to this mutability,” – Zagnoli explains – “both in its ability to transform and in how it reacts to external elements such as the light filtering through it or the flow of time. Moreover, it renders the piece visually light and intangible, despite its large size.” Alongside the Murano glass, the bright tones and soft geometries enhance this sense of lightness, giving the artwork an immediate and vibrant visual language.

Conceived to be taken apart and reassembled, Gigiona invites multiple interpretations and a personal relationship with the viewer. As the artist explains: “The idea is that everyone forms their own impression of Gigiona. In the same way that, when you meet someone, you initially know only a small detail, an anecdote, and it is by getting to know them better that the pieces come together and the picture becomes clearer, so too the relationship between the viewer and the work can be occasional or profound, vertical or horizontal, composed or decomposed, partial or all-encompassing.”

Collection Catalogue 2025

The Collection Catalogue brings together the brand’s two visions: on one hand, Remasters, the reissues of icons that have marked the history of Italian design; on the other, contemporary projects that express and evolve its values in the present.
