On the occasion of Apple’s 50th anniversary, the Paris store on the Champs-Élysées was transformed into a space dedicated to music and creativity, through an installation inspired by the French Touch, a musical movement that has evolved over time into an immediately recognisable expression of French creative culture. Conceived as a contemporary apartment, the installation hosted performances, encounters and creative sessions, bringing together artists from different generations and musical backgrounds to reinterpret iconic tracks from the past thirty years using Apple tools. Inside the recording studio, a large composition of Free System, designed by Claudio Salocchi in 1973, defines the centre of the space. Conceived as an architectural island free from predetermined configurations, the system combines seating modules, poufs and tatami to create an open, informal and flexible domestic landscape. The modularity of Free System allows the composition to adapt to the scale and functions of the space, enabling different modes of use and interaction. The system’s geometry enters into dialogue with the temporary nature of the installation, helping to shape an environment designed for gathering, working, listening and sharing.
