Designed in 1973, and re-edited by Meda-Quincoces in 2023, Caludio Salocchi’s Free System sofa is now more contemporary than ever, so much so that Elle Decor Italia is now nominating a re-edition for the first time in the history of the prestigious EDIDA award.
The EDIDA, an acronym for Elle Deco International Awards, is a unique event where the 25 Editors in Chief of the Elle Decoration international network gather to award global excellence in design in 15 categories.
Free System is an upholstery system whose elements – tatami, pouf and seat – are characterised by complete modularity, allowing multiple combinations and configurations.
Claudio Salocchi, an independent figure in the avant-garde design scene, continues, 50 years on, to pioneer a free way of living in the home, emphasising comfort and contemporaneity as the main elements of his innovative approach.
