Marco Acerbis

Marco Acerbis was born in 1973 and graduated in architecture from Milan Polytechnic.
From 1997 to 2004 he lived in London where he worked with Foster+Partners studio. In 2004 he set up his own practice in Italy. Fascinated by designing at very different scales, he quickly moves on to explore with a constant cross over of skills, ideas, tools and technologies of all sorts of subjects to achieve a globally designed space. His skills cover a wide range of subjects from sustainable architecture to product design and corporate image.

Lodovico Acerbis

Lodovico Acerbis was born in Albino, Bergamo in 1939 and graduated in Economics and Business in Milan. In 1963 he joined his father’s company with the aim of creating design furniture by applying the most advanced technologies and the best materials. Founded in 1870, as a carpentry workshop, the company under his direction reached industrial dimensions and established itself as a leading company in the sector. Lodovico Acerbis combined his work as an industrialist with that of a designer, producing some of the most significant creations of Italian production, often signed together with Giotto Stoppino, with whom he created a fervent creative partnership.

Gabriele & Oscar Buratti

Gabriele Buratti, architect and professor of Interior Design at the Faculty of Design of Politecnico di Milano, and Oscar Buratti, architect, form the architecture and design studio Buratti Architetti.

The studio is transversally involved in projects of different scales, from the architecture of buildings and urban areas to interiors of houses and commercial spaces, from the design of furniture and lighting to the exhibition and showroom design, in an intense and varied professional path, in which themes, places and typologies, brands and people, materials and workmanship, mingle together contaminating one another.

Massimo Castagna

Born on 13 November 1957, Massimo Castagna graduated in architecture in 1984 from Milan Politecnico; he began his professional activities in 1986, founding the studio AD architettura. He has gained considerable professional experience in the field of architecture, interior design, art direction and design in the furnishing sector. One of his major creations has been the “Piramide” laboratory the Everest-K2-CNR scientific committee for the Italian National Research Council, which was built in Nepal beginning in 1991 at an altitude of 5050 m., to be used as a high-altitude research laboratory, a project selected for the 18th Milan Triennale.

Gianfranco Frattini

Gianfranco Frattini was born in Padua in 1926. He graduated with a degree in Architecture from the Politecnico di Milano in 1953. Frattini opened his own professional practice in Milan, after having worked in the office of his teacher and mentor Gio Ponti. In 1956 he co-founded ADI – Associazione per il Disegno Industriale – and throughout his career he practised both industrial design and architecture, focusing mostly on interiors. He was a board member of the Triennale di Milano. Great connoisseur of wood craftsmanship, he forged a long and fruitful professional partnership with the master craftsman Pierluigi Ghianda.

David Law

David Law studied at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, where he graduated with honors in 1961. In 1967 he joined Unimark lnternational as an executive designer in the Detroit and Chicago offices and, in 1978 he joined Vignelli Associates. Mr. Law’s experience includes work and graphic, packaging, environmental, exhibition, product, furniture and interior design. His work is represented in the permanent collection of the Cooper-Hewitt Museum.

Vico Magistretti

Born in Milan in 1920, Magistretti enrolled in the Faculty of Architecture at the Politecnico of Milan in 1939. Between 1943 and 1944 he moved to Switzerland, where he met Ernesto Nathan Rogers, a key influence on his education.

He returned to Milan in 1945 where he graduated in Architecture from the Politecnico and immediately began his professional career. The 1950s were a fruitful period for Magistretti, who emerged as one of the most brilliant exponents of the “third generation”.

Over the next few years he began working a lot more as a designer as well as an architect, creating furniture and objects which will always be “classics” of modern-day production.

Massimo Mariani

Born in Florence, Massimo Mariani lives and works in London.

He studied architecture with Giancarlo De Carlo at the University of Genoa.

After graduation he joined Renzo Piano Building Workshop in Genoa and later Herman Hertzberger Architectuurstudio in Amsterdam.

He moved to London in 2001 to work freelance on architectural projects and urban renewal schemes throughout the United Kingdom. In 2006 he established his own private activity focusing on architecture and industrial design.

Selected works have been presented at shows and exhibitions in Milan, Rome, New York, Shanghai, Berlin, Paris and London.

Francesco Meda

Francesco Meda was born in Milan in 1984. Graduated in 2006 from Milan’s Istituto Europeo of Design in Industrial Design. The designer gained experience in London working at Sebastian Bergne’s studio and later at Ross Lovegrove’s. Since his return to Milan in 2008 he has been collaborating with his father Alberto Meda while at the same time pursuing his own personal Art and Design projects. In 2013 he began his own production with objects such as LED lamps, marble tables, benches and 3D printed jewellery. 

Since 2020, together with David Lopez Quincoces, he has been the artistic director of Acerbis.

Roberto Monsani

Roberto Monsani started his professional career in Florence by designing homes and urban development plans in Tuscany. Between the 1970s and 1990s he designed commercial buildings and shops in Europe, America and Asia. In 1973, from the restructuring of a sales centre inside Palazzo Ferroni, Life was born: conceived as an artistic solution, it became an industrial product in 1974, the year in which the collaboration between Acerbis and Monsani began. His most recent works have been in Rome: the recovery of representative spaces and the furnishing inside the historic Palazzo Borghese, and the conversion of the Adriano theatre in Piazza Cavour.

Giacomo Moor

Born in Milan in 1981, Giacomo Moor, after graduating in Design with a final dissertation on wood published by Abitare, opened his studio with his partner.

With his multidisciplinary team, designers and woodworkers, he designs products for companies, he creates limited editions for galleries, produces unique pieces for private clients, and he is engaged in every step of the process. Giacomo Moor unites the

precision and the formal rigour of the design with the sensitivity of manual craftsmanship, his empirical and resolving approach, and his capacity to combine technical and aesthetical skills, managing the production process, are constant elements of his working method.

David Lopez Quincoces

David Lopez Quincoces was born in Madrid in 1980 and he graduated in Art from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 2004. He then gained a Masters in Interior Design at Politecnico of Milan. He moved to Milan in 2005 and started collaborating with Piero Lissoni Studio on various interior design and architecture projects. He founded his own studio, Quincoces-Dragò & Partners, in 2007, with offices in Madrid and Milan, focusing on projects in the fields of architecture, graphic, interior design and industrial design. 

Since 2020, together with Francesco Meda, he has been the artistic director of Acerbis.

Claudio Salocchi

Claudio Salocchi was an Italian architect and designer. He was a protagonist of the creative ferment of the 60s and 70s who knew how to interpret the transformations of that period into projects that anticipated forms, functionalities, technologies and new typologies that became trends many years later.
In his long career he was internationally involved for more than fifty years in the fields of industrial design, architecture and interior design.
He was an independent and unclassifiable figure: as a designer, his works are related to the exclusive collaboration with some companies born at that time that rapidly stood out for their unique products, giving to the history of Italian Design an important contribution.

Giotto Stoppino

Born in Vigevano in 1926, Giotto Stoppino studied Architecture at Milan and Venice. Since 1953 he has devoted himself almost entirely to architecture, founding together with Gregotti and Meneghetti one of the most culturally committed architects’ offices. Since 1968, with his own independent studio, he has dedicated himself to design. He was president of ADI for the three-year period 1982-1985 and president of the Compasso d’Oro award in 1984. His works are in the Museum of Modern Art in New York, in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, in the Museum für angewandte Kunst in Munich, in the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago and the City-Hall in Shanghai.

Lella & Massimo Vignelli

Lella and Massimo Vignelli are a husband-and wife team. They studied in Venice, ltaly, and in 1960 established the Massimo and Lella Vignelli Office of Design and Architecture in Milan, working with graphics, products, furniture and interiors. In 1965 they founded Unimark lnternational Corporation, and, in 1971, Vignelli Associates, with an office in New York and liaison offices in Paris and Milan. The Vignellis’ work has been awarded numerous prizes and exhibited several times in sector publications, in the United States and abroad. Several of his works are included in the permanent collections of several museums.

Nanda Vigo

Nanda Vigo was born in Milan in 1936. She lives in Milan and East Africa. In 1959 she set up her own studio in Milan and exhibited her work in galleries and museums in Europe and Italy. In 1965 she curated the legendary exhibition “ZERO avantgarde” in Lucio Fontana’s Milan studio. Vigo’s work is interdisciplinary, combining art, design, architecture and the environment, and she is involved with numerous projects as an architect, designer and artist. What distinguishes her lively career is attention to and research into Art, something which has pushed her to collaborate with some of the most significant figures of our time and to always undertake projects aimed at promoting Art.
